   Founded in 1917, Lions Clubs International has 1.35 million members in 4500 clubs in 206 countries and geographic location. 
 
   Covering the eastern third of Connecticut, living and working in Middlesex, New London, Tolland & Windham Counties, approximately 2000 lions in 55 Clubs of District 23C serve our communities, state and world wide with a wide variety of local worthwhile service projects and raising funds and awareness in support of eradicating preventable blindness.
 
   As reported in the Financial Times in 2007, Lions Clubs International Foundation was selected as the Number One NGO of 34 global organizations ranked by 445 companies involved with NGOs and international agencies.
